Sororities are their strengths

by: Lol

All sororities have strong chapters and not-strong chapters. Quantity of chapters is not a measure of how elite or prestigious.
The best nationally are PKT - Pi Phi, Theta, Kappa. These are going to have the most strong chapters, and the least weak ones. The ones where they are strong are at the best Greek schools (with exceptions - eg Theta here). Not often bottom.
Second top tier - DDD, DG, Alpha Phi (sorry but it is true). They are top in a lot of schools, upper mid in even more, rarely bottom (exceptions apply)
Mid tier - XO, Zeta, AXO, AXD, Gamma Phi, DZ. Usually a solid choice, not often top tier (exceptions again!) but not often total bottom either
Bottom - AEPHI, DPHIE, SDT, AST, SK - if they're top, it will be at some small commuter school or something. Most often bottom.
Regional - KD, ADPi, Phi Mu, AOPI - often great in the south, usually terrible anywhere else

Alpha Phi is in the top tier. No bottom chapters whereas both Kappa and Theta have bottom chapters. Even at UF where Alpha Phi is very new - they rank at or higher than Kappa - for instance.

Go ahead...check insta, facebooks, this site.

Alpha Phi does have bottom chapters. Here! Georgia Tech. There are more. They probably deserve a special mention given their very successful marketing strategy eg pretty girls only. It is smart - they recognise what makes a sorority "desired" is looks. Boys like pretty girls, and PNMs want to be where they boys are.
Sororities are money making businesses. They have to attract a steady stream of dues-paying wannabes. Only recruiting pretty girls makes business sense. Is it sisterhood? Nope. But it makes for a great business model.

Lmao no. Aphi is at best upper mid nationally. Plenty of bad chapters. Cannot compare to PKT.

Pnms can check all the other campuses on this site and get a consensus for themselves.

Alpha Phi is top level on most campuses and are only low-mid at campuses where they are new. There are no bottom chapters. Theta and Kappa both have bottom chapters.

Go ahead...check it out.

"Only recruiting pretty girls makes business sense. Is it sisterhood? Nope. But it makes for a great business model."

Does really it, though? Lots of APhi chapters have retention issues even though they recruit well.

Kappa is bottom at every Florida school but that’s just a Florida thing

No. It is not a Florida thing. For instance Kappa is bottom at North Carolina State, U of Kentucky, Yale, at least.

The top chapters nationally - Kappa, Pi Phi, Theta - are top because they had the strongest chapters at the best Greek schools for the longest time. Look at Theta at Penn - Pi Phi at UT - Kappa here. Legions of devoted and wealthy and socially / business connected alums. They have places where they are bottom, as ALL sororities do. Alpha Phi does not compare. Their business and marketing model, which has been incredibly successful, did not kick in until the 90s and before that, they were also-rans.

Not to mention they have a history of rebooting struggling chapters by kicking out the "losers" and replacing them with hot girls.

Why would they keep losers??

So let's look at the "best" schools:

Harvard - Alpha Phi was the only panhellenic that stayed when the admin banned sororities. Kappa and Theta left. Alpha Phi stayed to defend women's rights.

UCLA - Alpha Phi is the top sorority (founded in 1924 - a long time ago)

Berkeley - Alpha Phi is in the top level (founded in 1919 - a long time ago)

MIT - Alpha Phi is the top sorority

Duke - Alpha Phi is in the top level

Northwestern - Alpha Phi is in the top level (founded in 1881 - a long time ago)

Yale - Alpha Phi is top level tied with Theta (there are only 4 sororities there). Kappa is "bottom".

UVA - Alpha Phi is top level at about #4.

And on and on and on....

fyi - Even if you are correct that Alpha Phi was an "also ran" before 1990. 1990 was 32 years ago.

A generation. \n\n\n\n\n

Harvard is arguably the best college in the us and top three globally.
MIT Is am incredible STEM school.
Literally no one who is not insane would describe those schools as good Greek schools.
Lie down Alpha Phi you need a rest.

I have Alpha Phi and I am very excited about it.

fyi - The hate Alpha Phi effort on this site is apparent to all of the pnms. Everyone is talking about it and it is having the opposite effect. It looks on purpose.

Sorry I thought the subject was Prestige so I thought I would list the most select and prestigious universities in the United States. Alpha Phi excels on those campuses especially at Harvard where they stood up to the administration after they banned sororities. They refused to disband and instead defended women's right to association.

If you are talking the largest Greek systems in the country, I am not sure which universities those are. If they are all in the South, then that is the only region where Alpha Phi is middle even. Not at Arkansas? Oh well.

Ole Miss - new chapter
UF - new chapter
FSU - Upper middle
UGA - new chapter
Texas - Upper middle
Kentucky - Upper middle
Virginia - About #5, almost top level
Louisiana State - Upper middle

Not sure what you are looking to prove.

Anyone can see these results. Just look on other campus thread on this site to get a consensus.

Outside of the South does anyone really think people care what sorority you were in once you are out of college? It makes for some interesting chats but otherwise who cares?

Stop with the fictional National rank-which isn’t a thing. Number of chapters doesn’t make you better( looking at you XO) Alums multiple posts declaring “we’re the best nationally. Blah, blah, blah( looking at you Kappa) doesn’t make you the best nationally. There is no best nationally. It goes campus to campus. We all have great chapters , chapters that struggle, and everything in between.
