People have thought that they’ve been “promised bids” only to be left high and dry on bid day.

You can tell your Rho Chi, without naming the house, exactly the circumstances and words said to you, and she can tell you if it actually is dirty rushing. But definitely take it with a grain of salt because no one member or handful of members can guarantee you a thing anyway. Please don't worry about something you can't do anything about, just keep going and do your best and see what happens.

Always rank all houses you had on your card for the day, never leave anyone off. You will be removed from rush.

You might have encountered a first time rusher who really likes you and would like you to become a sister, who doesn’t realize what she said has been interpreted as a bid promise. Or it could be someone who knows exactly what they said is dirty rushing. I liked the answer from “worry” who said to talk to your RX without naming the sorority to see if it is indeed a violation. Or you could just ignore it, understanding that no one member of any house has the clout to make sure a favorite PNM gets a bid, and rank this house accordingly.
