Setting the record straight regarding what the New Row fraternities are.
Pi Kapp
LXA
Kappa Sigma
Delta Chi
Theta Chi
Pike
ATO Delta Tau Delta
Sigma Chi
ZBT
These are the original New Row houses.
Beta, Sig Ep, Phi Psi, AKL and the rest were never on New Row.
The shift of New Row Houses to University is relatively new. There are still New Row houses on Jefferson. And there are houses on University that were never considered New or Old Row (Phi Psi).
All of Old Row is affiliated with the Machine. And all of the New Row houses listed above are as well except for ATO, Sig Ep, AKL and Phi Psi.

Guys want to be in Old Row fraternities and girls think Old Row is more prestigious.

Doesn’t matter much for frats. Some NR houses are better than some OR houses, and some OR houses are better than some NR houses.

“Old row” basically signifies the fraternities historic presence on campus. “New row” doesn’t exactly follow that definition. I mean, I don’t think there’s a consensus on what new row actually means. I guess by your definition, it’s moving onto Jefferson ave in the 60s when the houses were built? Kinda cool factoid, but who cares. Half those houses have moved anyway. We always referred to new row as basically anyone not old row… aside from the off campus and frat in a box houses.
