How important is class rank

Would it make much of a difference if I graduate from a good private HS in the top 5% or 10%? Id have to fail all my classes to drop below the 10% mark and have a shot to be on the top 5 if I bust my butt. Im already committed to Alabama.

Not really. Good grades matter but as long as you have a good gpa other factors come in and matter more.

Unless you go to a crappy school top 10% means you have a gpa that will pass any house here, fraternities and sororities.

At most decent high schools everyone in the top 10% probabbly has at least a 3.9 unweighted. A big that high will be a plus for all houses.
