but it also says it’s $3,600 out of house obviously my first year ur not living in the house, do I have to pay that out of house fee + the new member dues?

Every house is slightly different. The costs differentiate slightly by a few hundred dollars per chapter. New members usually pay a higher fee their new member semester. That covers the extra events they get their first semester. It also may include a pin/ badge, depending on the sorority, for initiation. This will include meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday-Thursday and breakfast and lunch for Friday. Some houses have meals for gamedays in the fall, some do not. Out of house members pay for the same things. In house members get more things ( usually access to more food) than the other members. All members have to pay for staff and fees to maintain the mansions. Our date parties and formals are ridiculously good. Most chapters hire DJ’s and live bands for events. That’s why it’s pricey- we get more.

Yes think of it as a fee for using the house, etc. $3-3600 is a good per semester estimate for first year not living in the house.
