whats wrong with DZ

Instagram doesn’t determine a top house? Top houses are usually based on desirability from PNMs and the reputation they’ve built from the girls they recruit. DZ just isn’t there because there are so many houses and all the houses considered “top” now always get the first pick and DZ is one of the many houses stuck with the leftovers. And the middle houses above DZ take their pick too. Not saying it can’t change, but as of rn it would be hard to recruit girls you’re looking for to improve a chapter. If it were ever change it would definitely take some time. I would say just work with what you have and develop a stronger chapter internally, through involvement and you’ll be able to recruit girls you’re looking for, get better PCs, and grow the reputation of your house.

I think it hurt them when they were in the swing house while the new house was being built, but since moving into their beautiful new house they have definitely been on the rise and are getting stronger! They are filled with a great mix of girls from all over the country.

dz sucks. they take an eclectic mix of girls so it hurts their rep and creates sisterhood issues. at least other bottom houses have a “type” they go after (aopi, theta, and dg all go for smart involved girls and aphi and gphi go for party girls) but dz is left with the bottom of the barrel.

Realize that most people who post on here have an agenda. If someone is putting another house down it is either to build their own up a notch or because they have a personal vendetta. Every house has girls who love that house and wanted it most throughout rush and every house has girls that did not want that house at all. The DZ's I know love their house and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. They are cute, smart, and have fun and don't care what other people think.

No one’s “hating” on DZ. The OP asked why they’re ranked low. YES every house has girls who absolutely love their house, no one is disputing that. But there are reason why they’re a bottom house.

They have improved a lot the past few years but the reality is that they are still competing with other bottom houses like Theta and GPhi for girls. If someday they begin to compete with ADPi, Zeta, and Pi Phi for girls that's when they've truly moved up. I love DZ and think they have some awesome girls but they aren't quite where they wanna be yet, and I've also noticed they self rank 10x more than all the other low mid/bottom houses.

The comment explains DZ perfectly.
They’ve made improvements but they’re otherwise still a bottom tier house (nothing wrong with being a bottom tier house either). They have a long way to go with PNM interest, reputation, grades, involvement, retention, etc.
Also, yes, they sell rank on here SO much.

Why is Adpi ranked so highly compared to the likes of GPhi and DZ. Personally I am yet to meet a girl from adpi who wasn’t incredibly average.

I agree, tbh I see barely any difference between ADPi and DG or AOPI, but ADPi has a long history of a decent/relevant enough reputation, so plenty of girls go into rush liking them. This means they can be more selective, and at the end of the day that's what makes a house better is being able to be picky and get the girls they want. Other houses may be similar to ADPI but don't have quite as much popularity during rush (not saying it could never happen tho)

Spot on. DZ is not PBP, ZTA, or even ADPi level because those houses will almost never lose girls they want to DZ (not that girls don't like dz during rush, but those girls are most likely preffing them with GPhi or Theta or something, not upper mid or OR houses)

people want to rank DZ so low because it’s not the “typical alabama sorority”. they recruit lots of oor girls that don’t necessarily care about the opinions of old row boys or wearing koch skirts. their grades could definitely improve but are more involved than they get credit for (i think they have 2 or 3 senators this year plus had sga exec secretary last year). overall if you’re a pnm that isn’t obsessed with carrying on the traditions of their southern grandmas and instead wants to be friends with a group of chill girls that like to have fun dz would be a great house for you

^^^ all that. Also I think a few years ago DZ was a lot worse. They were one of the first houses girls tried to drop and desirability is really important. And they have always had pretty bad grades. There’s nothing wrong with them though. I like all of the DZs I know
