What accounts for this Societal Shift
by: deep
What do you guys account for the societal shift back to greeks, like even in 2015 etc Greek Life was smaller and not as good quality after it had died down, we're now seeing wayyy bigger PC's with higher quality girls. Same with pageants, they're becoming more popular after lagging for a few years.
I personally think it's a backlash against Americans being told to be ashamed of our own culture and a dilution of born and bred americans

Idk about the rest of what you’re talking about, but we are not seeing more girls rushing and bigger pledge classes at alabama. The biggest recruitment at this school was in 2016 with most pledge classes have at least 150 girls, many with more. The number of girls rushing and pledge class sizes have gone down since peaking in 2016

The overall devaluation of college education and mass promotion of collegiate partying/public glorification of Greek life.
-A college degree/working hard in college isn't a guarantee of relative success anymore since everyone and anyone can go to college. Rounding out the experience and clinging to anything that represents an opportunity to perpetuate that experience (and possible reap benefits down the road via networking) is appealing.
-"I'm Schmacked" "Old Row" "TFM" all pushed Greek life into young pop culture in a way that hadn't happened yet with social media. It made Greek more relevant and more appealing, but also brought in rushees for the wrong reasons. Arguably, these groups are a huge detriment to the longevity of Greek Life.
Also-It's UA. They used to advertise the University with Greek Life and Bear Bryant. It's rarely been an "education first, fun second" type institution. 75% of the social activities and traditions on campus are built around Greek life.
What is true at UA is not true of other institutions. The South tends to be 20-30 years behind U.S. Society in terms of priorities and mannerisms.

I think saying there’s been a societal shift is just because of prospective.
I can promise you the girls who rushed in 2010 thought the exact same thing when comparing to girls who rushed in 2002(That they were higher quality PNMs, better looks, etc). Many of the stereotypes that existed then are still the same today.
Just how some members may say their current sorority experience is way better than that of previous generations. The alums might think their experience was better than the experience of current members.

You're missing the point. Even though 2016 was the peak, the levels are still remaining higher year after year than they were before.
