it's not uncommon for sdt chapters to be much smaller and not participate in formal recruitment at larger schools. this is the case at ut (texas) and usc (southern california) as well. not sure if it's sdt national's marketing strategy (the alternative sorority experience) or just that as a smaller/younger national, they don't have the money to compete in these huge, expensive greek systems.

I have a friend who is an SDT at Florida and she LOVES it. I think between USC, UT, and here...we def have the most toxic Greek cultures. The correlation is def not an accident.

there is no SDT at Florida or Florida State.. they have a strong chapter at umiami and a middle tier chapter at USF. that’s about it, their presence is wayy stronger in the northeast and a few big 10 schools.

I just think it’s interesting how all of a sudden SDT had to do formal recruitment since we don’t know how long we will be on campus for and NOW everyone is in an uproar that they have less girls than the rest of us.

Who cares? Their Florida State chapter isn't at Bama.
I mean, that would be like comparing Texas Theta and Alabama Theta. Completely different.

It was brought up because someone a few comments above said there was no chapter at FSU, no one was comparing them or even put the two in the same sentence.

i have a friend in sdt and from what i've heard, their advisor is the worst. they did pref 200 girls and wanted a pc of about 50 or so girls. the advisor went ahead and set the quota at 20 in the system which then messed up the entire system for getting bids which is why their numbers are so low. this wasn't due to them not having anyone interested in the chapter bc they had a ton of girls at pref, i genuinely feel so bad for them.

they did not rush well at all. many of the girls hadnt done anything yet bc they joined last spring so had no experiences to talk about. also the girls were just very awkward and could not hold a conversation. you would think since they put multiple pnms and actives together in break out rooms that the conversation would flow but many times you would just be sitting in silence. it's not the pnms job to keep the convo going and it definitely is a big turnoff when they can't keep it going. many rho chis tell pnms that you know the house is right for you when you feel like you could talk for hours but with sdt they couldn't even hold a convo for 5 minutes.

Yes the UT Austin chapter is very similar and they did formal rush like 10 years ago with almost identical results. Girls participating in formal rush just don’t want to join the outlier chapter.
