Transferring to UA
by: student
hey y’all! I go to a diff college, and I’m in a sorority there that doesn’t have a chapter at bama. since i was initiated in fall 2019, I can’t rerush but what if I transferred to UA and went through rush in fall 2021 and changed my name? does the Panhellenic name check people’s legal names, or if I registered for recruitment with a diff name, could I rerush??
seeing all the tiktok and Instagram posts are just making me want the bama Greek + college experience so badly! also—I would take literally any chapter at bama that’s doing formal recruitment rn!!

Bump also need advice for this. I was supposed to go to UA but I go to a smaller college in Kentucky because my dad passed away in my senior year and I didn’t want to be too far away from my mom. But now I’m considering transferring to UA to get the college experience I wanted. I’m in Greek here but my chapter isn’t at UA.

There’s literally no way you’d be able to use a fake name..
1. Your student info that you apply with is readily available to houses from the school 2. The information on your transcripts that you have to send as a transfer wouldn’t match up
3. The system does verify that you’re a student otherwise complete randos could just register for recruitment
4. You wouldn’t be able to keep up with the lie when you have classes with sisters who would hear your real name called or see it on the online roster
5. You’d be shocked to know that people talk. A lot. Actives would reach out to their friends who go to your previous school and would find out all about you in a second
Unless you legally change your name it’s impossible to get away with and tbh that would be crazy to even do. Transfer to a school with your house or join a club..

hi. you don’t know what goes on in other panhellenic initiation rituals, we didn’t all pledge to be a sister “for life.” we committed to loyalty, etc. and it’s possible to be loyal to the friends you made in your OG chapter as well as the traditions while still pledging at UA. it’s a very diff experience and I guess you wouldn’t understand if you’ve gone to UA your whole college experience.
