Cuts

by: Pnm

Did old row make like huge cuts? I’m not going to lie I’m really surprised I didn’t get back any old row I’m in state and great gpa and involvement with recs. I’m not like super sad about it but just wondering why?

It’s one or many of these things:

1. GPA wasn’t high enough
2. Not enough involvement in clubs, sports and community service in high school
3. Questionable reputation
4. Your appearance (I know this is hard to accept, but for some it’s the case)
5. Something on one of your recs raised a red flag. Some alums don’t always write glowing recs. Some are brutally honest about you, your family, your ability to pay dues, etc. I know it sucks, but that’s why you need to really feel out who writes your recs before you ask them to do it. No rec is better than a bad rec.
6. Someone already in the house knows you and recommended you be cut early on. Always be nice to girls in high school that are older than you.
7. Someone in another house knows you and reached out to other rush chairs warning them about you (sad, but it does happen).

Or, you fell through the cracks. It happens. Don’t sweat it and be excited for the houses you do have. If you are instate, then you have good chance for leadership and to rush girls from your hometown in the future. See it as a positive!!!

One Hand One Heart One Destiny and Sworn Sister always make huge cuts after first round.

Houses with highest return rates have to make biggest cuts. So basically, the more desired houses by PNMS are the ones that are required to cut the most during those first few rounds based off of Quota.
