Upperclassmen Bids

by: Tay 2001

I plan on transferring to Alabama next year as a junior and being in a sorority has been my dream. What’s your advice for upperclassmen rushing?

Honestly as a junior your options will be extremely limited. Most houses won’t want to bid someone who will only be there for 2 years contributing to the chapter. It can happen, especially for girls who aren’t transferring in since they would have had time to make friends in sororities and have girls pulling for them, but if you’re coming in with no connections it’s going to be a lot harder for you

^^ a ton of juniors get bids to houses like gphi, aphi, dz, and sk who cob year round and need all the members they can get to meet quota

I didn’t say they can’t get a bid lol I just said it’ll be a lot harder and their options will be limited, which are both the statements. I know my house didn’t give bids to any juniors during cob

Rushing as a junior is harder but if you know past alumni in one of the sororities, they can write you a letter of rec which can boost your chances.

Try to have a high gpa and volunteer hours, reach out to girls in sororities on ig, and see if you have friends at other colleges in sororities to write you a recommendation. Hopefully this helps!
