snap bids
by: PNMTo whom and how are they offered? If I'm cut by all the houses I have left except for one, and the one house that keeps me I don't want to take a bid from, how do I go about getting a snap bid from someone else? Do I write down nothing when filling out my bid card? Do I withdraw from rush and hope I get a snap bid from someone? When do you find out if you've been offered one and how often are they given out?

only once have I ever seen a pnm get a snap bid from a sorority that she didnt go to pref with. but she still went to pref and put a house name down. she wasn't high enough on the house's list to get a bid. then a certain house ended up not getting quota and she was offered a bid that morning before bid reveal.

go back to both houses if you are invited. if you are invited to both for pref and put both houses down you will be guaranteed a bid. if you suicide just the one you like and don't get high enough on their list you will be bidless and cannot be a quota addition. the if is a house that doesn't make quota and decides to extend a snap bid you have to be the lucky first person on their list. they will look at a list of all the pnms who suicided and got dropped or dropped out earlier. but it is a 2% chance in my guess. most of the time you will just be left bidless. i would stick it out

I have had almost no contact with my Rho Chi since Monday morning except for when the party cards are handed out and am not in Tut so have no one around to ask questions of. I think my rush is going well since I got 12 parties after the first cut and 7 for skits. I am also very happy that my top two choice which seem to be excellent houses with great grades have kept me so far. My problem is that I am having trouble finding a good fit for my 3rd choice for pref. I have only 2 more of my picks left - the other houses I am invited back are houses I have cut - I just can't make a connection with these girls which would make me feel like spending 4 years with them. My 2 secondary choices are not making me really want to add them on my card either after this latest visit. Should I pick one of my middle 2 houses for my 3rd spot for pref? How am I then obligated to that house? If I am lucky enough to be invited back to my 2 top house that will be great but can these houses I keep cutting ask me back again and if I don't want to go am I out of this? Also, if I am lucky enough to go to pref with my 2 favorites, put them on my bid card and leave the last spot blank, is that suicide? If they both cut me will I then not be eligible for the snap bids you all are talking about? Help!

I guarantee you that if you don't let your "tier expectations" get in the way of what you feel in your heart, you will find amazing friends in any house. But you can't just sit back and act all entitled. You have to open your heart and find your friends. But I guarantee it will happen if you are willing to give it a try.

The way I read my email notice, if you list 3 prefs (icluding a third you really don't want) then by signing the MRABA with those 3 listed you are bound to any sorority on your pref list that offers you for one year. So if one of your first 2 choices offers, no problem. If the third offers, and you don't want it, you are bound to them for a year and can't accept a snap bids from another house during that time.
So, if you want to have snap bid possibilities, you should only list the first 2 choices since if you make it to 3, you will be guaranteed one of the 3 and at a minimum are locked in for a year.

I'm sure this will sound completely stupid, but can you only write down houses that invite you back for pref round? If I'm invited to pref round by a house I don't like, I should write them in in order to be eligible for a snap bid? What if they extend a bid to me and I've written them on my bid card and I don't want to be in that sorority? Will I disqualify myself from any chance of receiving a snap bid and have to except their bid on bid day?
