It was a pretty big deal to have your parents their on bid day; if for nothing else, moral support! Stress is extremely high and most of the girls are very anxious. Lot's of girls are from out of state and I think Bid day is a bigger deal than parent's weekend. Hope this helps...good luck!

Thank you so much because I wasnt planning on having them come. Do I have them plan to stay the whole weekend? or just until after the lunch?
For next year, just a thought...Panhellenic should talk about this a little more during Preview so parents and OOS PNMs realize it is a pretty big deal.

I'm from oos and my parents could not make it to bid day last year. Walking into a house where I didn't know anyone was intimidating at first and I wished I had my mom around...but after getting into the house, I knew I was home and I wasn't so scared anymore. Bid day was an awesome experience with or without parents. However, this year my mom will be there b/c she will be helping me move in and will get to experience our emotional excitement as we receive new babies!! I'm just glad she gets to be a part of it and witness it one year because it is a day so emotional, I cannot even explain. You'll look back on it at the end of your freshman year and see the true meaning of bid day. It's literally moving.

It depends on what sorority you join. Most sororities leave on retreats the day of, so you won't be able to spend all weekend with them, just that morning. Some leave the day after and one leaves the 20th. I would tell them to just come for the day or the days leading up (and, honestly, who wouldn't want their mom around during the end of rush. I know I sure did!)
