sorority recruitment

We can't really tell you what goes on behind closed doors bc that's secret pnm selection information only members of the sororities know... But the 3 big factors can be one's reputation, their gpa (if it's a 2.0, no good), and if you act/dress ridiculously during rush. I knew of a girl who stood up right in the middle (back when I rushed) and told the girls of a very nice sorority that she was a legacy at a "better house" and wasn't even going to bother. No one, no matter how perfect you are, will invite you back if you speak poorly of houses--specifically their own! Also, if someone who writes your rec discourages your membership, that can be detrimental for that specific sorority as well. A lot of people don't realize some alumni will write poor recommendations. It's kind of rare, but it happens

Membership selection is private but the most common reasons would be:
-bad grades/GPA
-bad attitude
-reputation

I wanna bring up the attitude thing:
Just because you're a legacy at another house does not mean you have to be rude to other houses. And don't talk about how you're a legacy at another house cause its rude

The easiest cuts are for a GPA below the house GPA minimum requirement, and not having a rec.

We cut a girl last year because she laughed about one of the bottom houses at one of our parties. We took that to mean that her character wasn't what we wanted. Our house is very panhellenic and we don't make fun of houses that are less selective because we want a huge thriving greek community. That would be hard if every house below us dropped off campus. We'd be the lowest house!
