does an oos (northern) sophomore transfer with a good gpa have a chance with phi mu, tri delt, or any middle/top tier sororities?

Phi Mu took 11 upperclassmen from the statistic I saw for 2012... that being said, not only is your bias towards specific sororities going to screw you, that gpa better be better than good. If it's below a 3.5, not a chance in hell unless you're the daughter of a senator or something.

believe me, im not bias toward those two... that being said, I've heard multiple things about the requirements that each sorority has to take a certain number of sophomores, which I didn't think was considered upperclassmen. But I hope the fact that I was accepted/joined both honors fraternity and honor society at my old school will help!

Sororities do NOT have to take any upperclassmen. Whoever told you that is completely wrong. Upperclassmen quota is in place so upperclassmen can have an extra shot and don't have to necessarily compete against incoming freshmen. The university nor Panhellenic require that they take upperclassmen. It's completely optional. And to be honest, most try to steer clear of upperclassmen (especially old row houses). Yes, Phi Mu took some, but they were incredible candidates. Rushing as an upperclassmen cuts your chances significantly. I'm only telling you this to help you. If you're fabulous, maybe. But don't put all your hope in a select few (I'm assuming you won't since you said you wouldn't), be open to every chapter, and take a bid where you can find it. And have fun! I hope this doesn't add stress--only meant to be helpful

Also, honor societies look great! Are you going to be an honor student here?

Honor societies - unless it's Phi Beta Kappa, no big deal.
You need to be open to ANY sorority, not just certain ones.
ALL the sororities have outstanding women in them. You'll find lifelong friends in ANY of them.
Don't be a snob and screw yourself out of a bid.

Thanks, I'm definitely not trying to do that.

No. Most had one or more.

of old row did not take upperclassmen. And if they did, it was very few. Phi Mu taking 11 was highly unusual and isn't likely to happen again

They're more likely to take only one upperclassmen out of the 160 that signed pref cards

let's get one thing straight. Tri delt is NOT a top tier at bama....maybe in the south east, but not at bama.

Sorry, Tri Delta is a top tier sorority at Alabama. Check your facts. Also check your spelling and punctuation.

If you attend a preference party there is a 99.9% chance that you will end up with a bid because of RFM. people don't get cut after pref. sometimes they don't accept their bid or drop after pref but you don't get Cut After pref
