bid day

by: :)

Well tomorrow is officially the happiest day of the year. Congrats to all the soon to be new members. You've had a long, stressful week and your hard work is about to pay off. Just a reminder to everyone. The sororities pick you, not the other way around. Some of you may get your #1 pick. Some of you may get your #2 pick. Just know that every sorority here will give you a wonderful experience regardless of whether they are seen as top, middle or bottom tier. It may sting at first if you don't get your top pick but please give the house that gave you a bid a chance. The house chose you because they obviously see something in you that they value and believe that you will be a nice addition. With that being said. Good luck ladies. I hope you all are just as pumped as we are.

I'm just really nervous tbh. I know they say not everyone gets their top choice but I can't help but feel I'm gonna be a little bummed at first if I don't.

Happens all the time. And you will be told the usual line, give it a chance. You will find your people in any sorority. Hopefully you do if it's not your first choice tomorrow. The reality of it is you are "branded" in a way by the letters you wear because of all the ridiculous ranks. Hopefully it works out for you.

@Yup

You are full of crap. The whole 'branded by your letters' thing is ridiculous. Please leave the sorority stuff to actual sorority girls.

It’s a very exciting but nerve wracking energy once you get into the stadium. When you open your bids, everyone will scream and it will feel like EVERYONE is getting their first choice house, even if they aren’t. I promise you, even though you may not notice them, there are tons of girls who are feeling the same way as you if you get your second choice. I had to sit and talk through tears to manny of my girls who were heartbroken.

Best advice I can give you is get your tears out in the stadium. It’s okay to be disappointed, but you want to be able to run to your new home and give it the best shot you can. Even for the girls who get their first choice, everyone goes through the first semester questioning if they ended up in the right house.

Yes, please get your tears out before you get to your new home...we have worked so hard and we WANT you! There's nothing more upsetting than a PNM in tears and upset and acting like she doesn't want to be there.

I know it might be hard to get your 2nd choice, but I can promise you this: with hundreds of girls in each house, you can find sisters you love and a sisterhood you want.

And remember this: there are girls every year who pledge a house that they "never thought they could see themselves in" only to later learn that they loved it and that it was perfect for them.

Give your new home time, things don't happen overnight. And best of luck tomorrow, enjoy being with all your new sisters!

Tears? Get over yourself! When in your life have you had 400 waiting to befriend you and when have you walked into a whole semester of pre-planned parties, swaps, sisterhood events? You aregoing to get that from every house at Bama!! You may be better than some in your new house, but you are not better than all the women in your new house. ALL the houses are fantastic!! Give everyone you are about to meet a chance. Do not be the crying downer person tomorrow and screw up your chance to start off on the best foot to meet new friends/sisters!

You're not an infant. You can control when you cry. Don't do it on bid day, please.

Good luck ladies!!! And it does seem cliche to say but please give the houses a chance even if they were not your first pick. The girls saw something in you that they clearly admired enough to extend a bid to you.
