Honestly I’m sure a lot of girls will celebrate some way or another. Please keep in mind that if you get caught there will be MAJOR consequences including social probation and fines. If you’re a new member, please think about how that will affect you. If you’re on social probation that will mean no swaps or date parties for the first months of your freshman year and it will hurt the actives who wanted you in their house. If you’re an active, it will reflect poorly on the house that your new members just joined. Don’t ruin it for them. It’s a 24 hour wait after bid day. Try and stick it out because there is so much more fun to come. Please think about that before you go out because if you get caught then it can ruin everyone’s experience.

I rushed in 2016 and on Bid Day there were a few girls in my Rho Chi group who were insanely drunk... I understand a little buzz but these girls were literally sitting on the floor hunched over on each other. Oh, and they also brought a water bottle of straight vodka with them and they asked my friend and I if we wanted some. I wish I remembered what houses these girls ended in but I just thought it was crazy that they were evidently drunk at like 10am on a day most other new members would want to clearly remember. And now as an active looking back, I can't even imagine what I would do if a new member ran home and met me and was so drunk she could barely stand.

Just sharing that story because it was just so weird. But anyways, most PNMs are sober af on Bid Day which is understandable because it's a big day and most girls want to remember it. BUT if you do choose to drink, be careful and know your limits. Houses are strict on drinking and if word gets around that you got plastered with some actives ALL of the girls involved will get in trouble and as a new member it's just not worth it. There will be SO many other opportunities to drink and have fun, don't let the older girls intimidate you.

Sorry I’m an alum but curious about this rule— does it mean actives can’t even go to bars after everyone has packed up and left for new member retreat? If so that seems a little overbearing, like who really cares at that point if the new members aren’t around

Panhellenic rules are too much. I predict a bigger decline in girls rushing next year. This years numbers are already down. Panhellenic needs to be completely replaced with people who are not so parental

It’s ridiculous. The new members are off on their retreat. Girls have been working their asses off for two weeks or longer on recruitment. The seniors at least deserve a chance to go out and have fun! The 24-hour wait is total BS. “Oh, let’s wait until the new members actually get BACK from retreat to be able to go out.” So, so stupid.

Seniors should be allowed to go out.
