dropped from lower tires houses

by: Dropped

I’m a pnm from Georgia and I had recs from every house. I think it’s odd that after IWT I got dropped by DZ, AOpi, and theta but kept by Phi Mu and Kappa. Why could this have happened?

You are learning that despite what gets anonymously posted here, alll of our houses are strong and have our target girls. We ALL have to make tough cuts at every round and the idea that some houses take everyone is just wrong.

It may have been your GPA. It may have been that they were picking up your feelings that you were in a lower house and didn't have to try your best to impress us. Your rec writers may not have felt you were a great fit. Or you may have been great, had great conversations, had glowing recs but just not high enough on our target lists. When there are girls that are doing great and getting released it just shows that a house is having an awesome rush and getting their target girls returning at high rates. Enjoy the houses you have left, they are all great options and hopefully you find your home.

First, the whole tier ideology is so ridiculous. You can find some really great things about every house and some really crappy things about each house. Superficial people care about the tier of your sorority. Real people care that you are in a house with folks you enjoy being around.

Their is a lot of similarity between applying for competitive colleges and sororities. Each house can only invite so many back and they need to invite back the folks that they know will yield the right percent of pledges. Just as you seek the right fit, they seek folks that seem to match the vibe of their house and that they feel may actually want to be there. Even if you were not purposely putting out the vibe that some houses were beneath you they might have sensed it and decided to move on to candidates that might actually list them.

You were probably released by houses that know they probably will not pledge you. If you are beautiful, have a killer resume and top grades and are from a high school with a great rep, the lower houses aren’t dumb and know that you will probably end up elsewhere. Keeping you around means releasing a girl they could realistically pledge. Everyone wants to make quota but if lower houses only target traditionally top pnms in terms of grades, looks and involvement, they won’t. They have to target the best girls that they have a chance at pledging.

This will probs get downvoted but it’s somewhat true— I’m in a weaker recruiting house and there is no sense in us keeping a girl we know will never end up in our house. We cut mostly off the bottom obviously but we always make some cuts at the top too, usually a multiple legacy. This probably isn’t the case in OP’s situation but it does happen.

However all the reasons listed in the other posts are very valid, especially #1. We cut “top” girls every year for coming in our house and acting like they would rather be in heIl. One of the most sought after PNMs last year did not say a single word the entire time she was in our house.

^^^And aren't you glad she didn't? Who would want that kind of snobby attitude as one of your sisters.

Yeah being in a lower house you really get to see the true colors of some of these PNMs. Usually they really are great girls but every once in a while one of them outs herself as a huge b

I am not sure why you think this is odd, unless you mean why would a 'lower tier' house drop you? Maybe this helps prove that this whole tier thing is meaningless and you were simply not high enough on their list as a good fit. Here's to hoping you find your home and enjoy your college experience!

That's exactly what she means, why pretend it wasn't?

OP: The answer is simple. They didn't like you enough.
