what happened?
by: ConfusedI had good conversations at at least 12 houses, if not more and had an active even tell me I would have my pick of houses (that house dropped me), had a around a 3.8 gpa, recs to every House, good activities, I know I am out of region and that might’ve hurt me but I only had five houses left today.

Honestly, the list of who is dropped is done behind-the-scenes. Usually the actives (besides a select few) don't even know who is coming back until they are about to pick girls up for the first round the next day. So while actives might be pulling for someone, they often have no way of knowing if their girl even made it to the next round.
A lot of actives don't realize that they don't know as much as they think they do. They tell you that you will have your pick of houses but in reality they have no idea (no active should EVER say this). NO active should EVER tell you that you are coming back to their house or that you are getting a bid or anything remotely similar. This is dirty rushing and they have no idea what they are talking about. They think that they can make sure you get through to the next round but there is no way of ensuring that. You really have to take what actives tell you with a grain of salt, even if you want to believe every word they say. PNMs aren't the only ones crying on bid day. There are actives at every single house that see the bid list and are devastated when their top girl isn't on it; whether the PNM picked another house or vice versa.
I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. It really sucks, I understand that. But push through it and stay positive. Don't less this hinder your time with other houses!! Put your all into the houses you have left and really try to find where you will grow the most over the next 4 years of your life.

At a different large university with 16 sororities I had a full 4 house schedule the day before preference. My preference in this order were: Theta, Alpha Phi, Pi Phi, Chi Omega. Theta and Pi Phi dropped me for preference and I went to the full schedule of 2 houses. Both preference events were great. I chose Alpha Phi as my number one but I would have been very happy in Chi O too. I got Alpha Phi and was very happy (and still am).
The point is that houses that I liked dropped me. Kappa who I liked dropped me the day before 4 party day. Alpha Phi was always in my top 4 but I would have joined the other 3 too. (Phi Mu and Zeta were not there. I dropped ACh0. ADPi, Tri Delta early on.)
Give all the houses a chance. If your top choices drop you still go to preference before you withdraw. This process is very stressful but it is worth it in the end.
All best wishes to all the actives and pnms!

the above is 100% accurate, there is so many moving parts in recruitment and the team that is making the final decisions has to factor in 1000's of votes/opinions/emotions....it is tough on all involved especially when you are dealing with the numbers at Alabama.
Good luck to all involved, hope everyone finds a home away from home!
