theta
by: HeyyyI’m a pmn from Florida. I had heard Theta sucked here but I was really impressed with them today. The girl I talked to was so sweet and cute and their room in the stadium looked gorgeous did any other PNMs feel this way?

Preach!I have heard the story and know the house you were in. I do think the continual push of Theta to the bottom of the ranks has caused quite a few sororities to stay with the machine. However, despite that ranking (and being the last to have a house), we all see that Theta is gaining momentum and seems to have broken through their "punishment". They have a reputation for being involved on campus, so not belonging to the block does not seem to have held them back in any way. I know there are plenty of women who appreciate their anti-machine stance and wish their house did not belong, so hopefully other sorority houses will reconsider leaving the machine and begin putting their members first as well. I believe all the houses at Bama are fantastic for various reason, but Theta has made some choices I sincerely respect.

Don't listen to the tier nonsense. I was a Theta at a large Midwestern University and of 20+ houses, we were in the top 3. There were chasms between the cliques and a lot of typical infighting between competitive type A women. I transferred out of my school as a Senior and was relieved I would no longer have to deal with living with some of my "sisters" in our house. Don't get me wrong, I had some very close friends, but I gladly left my house behind and keep in touch with no one today. Looking back, I DID belong in that house as I can be type A and competitive myself, but if you have found a bond with a so-called middle tier house, do not hesitate to take it thinking you might hold out for a "better" house. I'm in my mid 40's and haven't given a second thought to the status of my college sorority since Pref Day in 1990. My daughter is rushing and fell absolutely in love with a "middle-tier" house because of 3 girls she met last April. The house is rushing her hard and she has so much in common with many of the women in the house. I am so happy for her (and maybe a little jealous?) I think she has a better chance of having that sisterhood that we all picture in our hearts before we rush. No one worth your time will ever judge you by the letters on your jersey. Pick the house with the heart and soul that matches yours.
