green girls
by: ?I've heard rumors about houses already having their pledge lists set before rush even starts. Is this true? Like having green/blue lists and then everyone left over is red. If so, what houses do this? Just want to prepare myself ahead of time

It doesn’t matter because there is nothing you can do. You’ll know when you join a sorority if that is how they do things. Sororities have their eyes on certain girls, but nothing is set in stone. That’s why recruitment week happens. So go in there looking your best, be confident, have good conversations, and things will happen the way they should. You can’t change your GPA, recommendations, or anything else so just do what you can and have fun!

All OR have those lists, but the list of “middle girls” or girls they don’t know a whole lot about are where moves happen. Girls get moved off the target lists and moved to middle or cut and middle girls get moved up to the target list all the time. The only group that doesn’t move is the red or cut list. In my house you’re on that list for below a certain GPA (usually a 3.4 or below) or not having a rec or having a bad reputation or something bad on your rec. once you’re on that list it doesn’t matter how gorgeous you are or what a sparkling personality you have - you’re cut.

Come on...of course there are lists there has to be lists. You can't manage rush of 2500 girls without them. What you think happens when they get your rec? What do you think happens when some aunt or mom calls and says little Suzy a 10th generation XYZ is rushing this year? Their names are put on a list.
This is a fact of life, all business decisions are based off lists pros/cons, costs, experience, reputation...

A difference among houses is that the older a house is on old row, there is a bigger “yes” list with legacies and connected pnms, with a smaller relative middle group. Like axo and pmu will have more move from middle to top for them because they are starting with fewer slots “spoken for” so to speak. This ability to react to what is happening during recruitment helps them curate classes while th new girls that have good potential to make a mark.

All the top houses do something along those lines. They have a red or cut list and there is basically no way to change that. Then they have a middle where pnms they want to need to learn more about. Then they have their blue green or whatever list that is going to have their targets. A pnm can defibately lose status as parties unfold and/or we get more info. Like somebody can come in cute with a good resune and recs and good social media and be middle, then confirm she is everything the resume and recs say she is — and she can move to the target list. Likewise, somebody could be in the top list because of a friend in house pushing for her or whatever, then come in and flop and get moved to middle or even to the cut ASAP list. Every house has different ways to deal with so many pnms. The OR houses generally have do have a system like this to manage their mandated cut levels.
