No, their house corporation is going to hang on to it and re-colonize in 3 years

The new campus map on the UA website labels it as STG. Could be mis-labeled?

They could be living in it for now but will have to move out if/when delta sig comes back

Delta sig isn't coming back..... their charter is revoked. they are allowed to recharter in 4 years, not get their old house back. After they recharter they are going to have to build up numbers which takes years, they most likely won't be back on campus in 10 years

No they are definitely coming back sooner than that. They’re only suspended for 2 years according to the tuscaloosa news article so some brothers will probably come back if nationals thinks they’re good influences. It also says they’ll focus the third year on rebuilding the chapter during which time no one will live in the house, so clearly their nationals is still in control of the house. Most of them are not owned by the university. It’s likely they’re just renting to sig tau.

You can be hopeful but it's not likely. And are you really citing a Tuscaloosa newspaper on who owns the delta Sig house? The delta Sig and old Sig ep houses are owned by the university. Point blank . Delta Sig never owned that house. They are allowed to recharter and apply for that house again in 4 years. They probably will apply for it but won't get it because they won't have any members since they can't rush for three years.

What, do you think tuscaloosa news just made it all up? All of that is straight from a joint statement by delta sig nationals and the university. I’m really not sure where you’re getting this 4 years number as I knew several delta sigs and they also said 2 years. I don’t care one way or another if they come back since I’ll be gone by then anyways, I just hate it when people come on here and speculate when a simple google search will tell you the truth.

Also for the record the houses are on university land but the actual buildings are owned by the groups. I think the little houses near the bus hub are the only ones actually owned by the university (alpha phi alpha, old theta tau, etc)

The old sigep swing house was originally the sigma chi house.

The Housing Corporation still owns the property. There was an open offer extended to Greek organizations to apply for the three year lease. Most small groups viewed this as being non-viable due to A. Having to increase dues for three years B. Being made to move out after three years without guarantee of a back-up property. It's a risky move to occupy the house and suddenly be thrown back into off-campus status. Looks like STG is taking that gamble.

The University owns the property. They may have some kind of leasehold interest and owe for the improvements, but I'm pretty sure it's campus property.

The fraternities and sororities own their properties, they take mortgages out with the University to purchase and build. The university has the ability to force a group out of house but they must pay a fair market value for the property. They did this for some of the houses that had to relocate for the stadium plaza expansion. Delta Sig house corporation owns the house and they have the option to keep it vacant until they re-colonize in 3 years or lease it for short term revenue.
The university does have a say in whom Delta Sig could lease the house to in the short term based on their criteria of who is house eligible. Basically who has the numbers and financial strength to meet their obligations.

Nope, your wrong. I'm pretty sure that new fraternity owns it now.

They've worked hard to build themselves up and get in a house. Congrats to them! They've earned it.

Kissing up to the Machine and bidding literally anyone with a pulse isn't "working hard." They won't be keeping it after three years because Delta Sig is going to come boot them out.

Yeh because sig tau has bunch of nerds that didn’t get bids from somewhere else. Theta tau is an engineering frat and his lower gpa than sig tau. What exactly are you trying to say?
