More girls have jobs than you would think. It's all about time management. If you work in the service industry or have late shifts, you might miss out on swaps/hanging out with friends more than if you have a couple shifts every week in the middle of the afternoon. Especially if you get an on-campus job where you can study while you work.

My parents pay for my dues and could more than afford to give me extra spending money but scoff at the idea of giving their adult daughter an allowance, and I agree with them. If I want to spend money on new clothing/going out to eat/getting my nails done, it's my job to pay for it. I'm not in high school anymore.

Don't be ashamed of acting like an adult. Earning your own money is a valuable experience and you can spin ANY job into valuable experience when applying for internships and jobs in the future.
