computer mess up
by: ?I've heard stories about the mutual selection programming on the computers messing up rush for some girls. For example, XYZ extended an invite to you, but the computer didn't put XYZ on your list. Is this true?? If so how often does that happen?

^ Going off of this, I've always wondered how girls "know" they were supposed to be invited back. I rushed in 2016 and there were actually a handful of girls who's schedules got mixed up and weren't scheduled for parties and had to get their schedules fixed... But it confused me because how did these girls know their schedules were messed up??

This does not happen. People say "the computer messed up" for three reasons: PNM's (or their moms) try to use it as an excuse for their getting cut; actives (or alums) try to use it as an excuse when they are confronted by PNM's (or their moms) about why their house cut someone; some PNM's, and their moms, and actives, and alums don't understand how the selection process actually works so they just blame 'the computer' for outcomes that don't fit their expectations.

There were issues and delays with the computer in 2016.
Crashes and such. I think that was why we were all waiting so much that year. Along with the rain,
While there were issues, believe it was always checked and worked through and never heard of it impacting anyone in the end.

Computer issues is a blanket term for a lot of stuff. Most of it’s fibs from embarrassed PNMs trying to justify why they were cut. Also from the house side it’s usually human error, like when chi o accidentally submitted their top 200 to cut instead of their bottom 200 in 2014. They had to pay a ton for each girl they wanted to save and not all 200 made it back on the list. That kind of thing does suck for the PNM but still not technically a computer issue and it’s also really rare.

A girl from my high school last year was dropped from the majority of the houses after IWTs. (Low GPA, semi-QR) She was then dropped from all but one during philanthropy and dropped out. She got a call from Panhellenic right before pref night saying an old row house had made a mistake and accidentally dropped her. She received a bid from them the next day. This never made sense to me... they had dropped her the first round?

Human error sometimes happens and if caught in time the rho chi's are informed and they tell those pnm's about it and how to get it fixed.
