eating
by: HelpI know every sorority will probably have at least some issues with this, but are there any sororities to completely stay away from if you come from a past of eating disorders and don’t want to go back down that path or be in a toxic environment?

No there are no sororities that have a reputation for having eating disorders, but if you feel like you'll slip down that path again by comparing yourself with your sisters I would stay away from most old row houses along with zeta and alpha phi. The other houses are just as beautiful and thin as these girls but much more accepting and down to earth so you won't feel so much pressure to be perfect in them

I struggled with an eating disorder starting my sophomore year and I’m in a lower house definitely not known for looks. Looking back I think that was part of the problem— I didn’t want to be the “typical” xyz. Honestly this can happen in any house, but it can also happen if you’re not in a sorority at all. In any house you should be able to find a support system.

I agree that any house has the potential to lead you down a dark path if eating disorders are something you struggle with. My biggest advice is to talk to counselors at school and Sheena the dietician! There are resources that you can confidentially talk to to make sure you are staying healthy and in a good place mentally.
While I think that there are parts of sororities that might not be the healthiest place for girls with a history of struggling with eating disorders. I think they can also help give you a strong support network that non-Greek girls may not get.
