huh
by: HuhIs no one going to bring up the fact that APhi’s new member GPA was actually higher than Zeta’s? Also, I was expecting a low number of actives for APhi after the election drops and the house clean, but Zeta? Especially because they supposedly got such a good pledge class? Why did they have to take COBs in the fall and the spring then? (And not just a few) I’m genuinely curious

For the last time, ZTA is NOT a top house. They are a mid tier house. TOP houses do not have to COB. You may see 1-2 girls on top houses new member reports in the past. Those might be a hold over from fall recruitment who couldn’t get initiated in the fall due to circumstances ( illness, withdrawal from full-time classes- I knew one girl who had this due to mono). It is not due to poor grades. She would just get dismissed. Some top houses may have an active transfer to see if the sorority wants to extend membership or grant her inactive status. My house only takes transfers in the fall and she has to participate in rush workshops. We decide if she will become a member after recruitment.

Like the persona above said, Zeta is not a top house... And I don't mean that in a rude way, they're just simply not a top house. They're upper mid at best.
Zeta and Alpha Phi are both very similar in the sense that they rush mainly on appearances. This obviously creates a lot of issues down the line, because if a house is curating a pledge class based on looks and not character then it builds a weak foundation and harbors a lot of potential for there to be petty drama... And time after time, petty drama arrises and creates a pledge class that looks good on the outside to break apart from the inside out.
There's a reason why Zeta sees a lot of girls drop. And there's a reason why Zeta HAS to take so many spring COBs. These two instances are directly correlated to each other.
Zeta's idea of a "good" pledge class is different from most other houses. Other houses define a good pledge class as having a lot of well rounded girls who are going to represent their letters well. Zeta defines a good pledge class as having a lot of attractive girls.
