where do the average, normal girls pledge?

Everywhere.

“Average” girls end up in every sorority on the row. Not every PM is drop dead gorgeous and unfriendly, not every KD is wild and from instate, not every AXO has above a 4.0, etc. Don’t think that just because you don’t fit the stereotypical mold of a house, that you won’t love it.

That being said, there are some houses that have less of a strong reputation, and are more mixed bag with the girls they get. Nothing wrong with this, these houses just have a more diverse group of girls and a less defined reputation. DDD, PBP, and AOPi are examples of these kinds of houses.

im not rich either, im from the north, my highschool gpa was 3.4, i wasnt extraordinarily involved, im average looking, but somehow i had phi mu on my preference day... im just trying to prove a point that these stereotypes mean nothing! you could fit in anywhere, it just depends on your personality.
