Pageants are sooo 30 years ago. Let’s focus on Alabama grads that are accomplishing REAL things — like Vicki Hollub, the first female CEO of a major U.S. oil and gas company.
Now there’s a female alum we can all be proud of. Not those that prance around on stage in a bikini and tap dance as a “talent.”

Serious Question -
Why do so many people in the South make such a big deal about pageants? I've seen MANY posts on this site about how ABC and XYZ houses are "good" because they take a lot of pageant girls. I'm from the North so maybe it's a cultural difference? Idk, I just feel like the South is just so antiquated, like people praise houses for having pretty pageant girls and somewhat look down on houses for having smart and diverse girls?

When people refer to the south as backwards they aren’t wrong lol
But I will give credit to Alabama sororities for caring a lot about grades and honestly factoring them into house ranks a lot more than northern sororities where I’m from

Pageants are real things and are a lot of hard work despite your belief! People train for years and compete multiple times just to be considered. It's about well rounded women. Not just pretty, not just smart, not just talented. It's not just prancing around in a bikini and if you knew what you were talking about, you'd know the bikini portion has been done away to please people like you.
