new member rules
by: DkkdAre new members allowed to go to frat parties and bars before initiation? Or do you have to wait until after to finally go out?

you can go to frat parties and swaps but not allowed to go to bars until you are initiated which usually happens around october/november depending on the house. there arent that many frat parties in the fall just mainly tailgates for gamedays the big frat parties happen in the spring except maybe a few band parties. the big events in the fall are date parties and swaps for freshmen

Rules:
1. No bars before initiation unless they're date parties.
2. No elevated surfaces, so no dancing on a table to something
3. No beer cans, you have to pour your drinks into a cup
4. No cigs, some houses say you have to sit down if you do smoke
5. Some houses say no letters, you can't wear your greek letters or put them in your insta bio
I think those are pretty much the basic ones.

Date parties- Have to be 19 to get in as under at bars. If you or your date are 18, they won’t let you in. If it’s a restaurant, getting in at 18 is fine.
No pics with glasses or cups.
No hashtags with sorority in it. No location on instagram.
Each house has their own rules. When finstas were a thing, a lot of houses were cracking down on those. If you don’t follow your rules, expect to get called into standards.

And no going upstairs in fraternity houses (I think some houses might have a general no shacking rule but not 100% on that because mine didn’t)
