payment plans
by: PnmDo houses offer payment plans? Does it matter if I have a job to any of them? My dad doesn’t like sororities and says I have to help pay for it if I join

Yes, sororities offer payment plans. The cost will be divided over the months of each semester. However, at least for my sorority, you are limited in some things you can do if you're on a payment plan. In my house, you're not allowed to go to date parties and I think swaps if your balance isn't paid in full.

Just some real advice. The houses are expensive and there are ongoing expenses all year. Dresses, t-shirts, coffees out, sisterhood events, time with your big/little, gifts, etc... all in addition to dues - even at the more all inclusive houses. Many girls have jobs and many do pay some of their dues, and many are on payment plans so you will not stand out in that way. If you have a plan to pay that is reasonable, it is doable.
If your plan is you working all year for the majority of costs (or all??) then maybe you might want to rethink rushing as a freshman. These houses are expensive and no sister likes to have to go after another sister or exclude her due to money issues. Do not go into rush if you are not sure how you are going to pay. Too many girls think it will work out and then end up not initiating or leaving after a year or two because of finances. It is horrible to take a bid from others and the time, $, attention, support of your sisters if you know you can not fully commit. It is horrible for the actives and the new member who leaves.
I would strongly advise that you work on getting used to college AND working a job first. Do you have time for the sorority and keeping your grades AND A JOB? If you are unsure, wait to rush next year after you have a feel for the balance of it all.

Hi!! Please ignore the people telling you not to rush. I know how big of a deal rush is and I know that she’s can be intimidating. I pay for mine completely on my own and am on payment plan. The only time I haven’t been allowed to go to a date party was when I had missed payments.
Also here’s a tip: living in the house for me was actually the same amount as living in a dorm and having a meal plan. Since you can eat at the house you don’t have to buy a meal plan which saves a ton of money.
Also, you don’t have to buy every T-shirt or go out all the time. You won’t be missing out on anything. And your sisters will be MUCH more understanding and helpful about your situation than people on this website will lead you to believe.

My house has payment plans that are split to three payments each semester. However, if anything is wrong with your bill they encourage us to talk to officers and tell them what’s up like if you’re working to pay it, your parents just need a little more time, ect. If you tell them what’s going on they don’t prohibit you from going to date parties or any other events unless you’re 90 days overdue (which is a lot lol)
