small graduating classes?

by: PNM

I'm a PNM from the north and noticed that the groups of seniors on the houses' instagrams are super small compared to pledge class size. My sister was greek at a big ten school and though they had some drop, her graduating class was still 75% of her pledge class. Why are they so much smaller here? Did they just not get all of them in the photo? Or do that many drop over their 4 years?

Many girls do drop sometime between their freshman year and their senior year. Also you need to account that it is common, especially among new row houses, for girls to drop right after bid day. On top of that, other things happen too... Some girls transfer, some girls dropout of college all together, some girls can't afford it anymore, and some girls feel they've already secured a tight friend group after their freshman or sophomore year and feel that they don't need their sorority anymore.

Also, some houses don't post all their girls who have graduated on their instagrams. I know my house posted one photo of a group of like 10 girls. And my house also doesn't take pictures of the entire graduating class.

Additionally you need to remember that freshman pledge class sizes were decently smaller than what they are now.

What's BS is the comment about dropping after bid day. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but not enough to make an impact on the number of girls who graduate four years later.

OR house social media shows the same thing. Small groups of graduates.

Houses do you lose girls, particularly the upper classes over time. New row, and out of state focused houses, a bit more than new row.

That being said, what you see on social media with groups of graduates is as much about logistics, girls being with their families, with people from their colleges, etc. And without a chance for a big photo op

1. Don't post pretty much the exact same thing on other school sites. Some of us have friends at other schools and check out their sites sometimes too.

2. No actual person says, "I'm a PNM from the north." We don't identify ourselves by where we came from. Besides, the majority of people on campus are from out of state, and this isn't the 1800's

3. Nobody cares, and if you actually do, then be sure to ask the houses when you come to recruitment, instead of an anonymous site full of people who have no idea what they are talking about.
