ONLY Alabama girls are concerned about ranks before, during, and after rush. It is because the ranks and tiers only matter in the eyes of helicopter moms desperate to relive or redo their own youth and alums who count on their college social status to support their Alabama life.
The Alabama girls head home to people who really care about letters and tiers. In addition, this all changes depending on the town or location in the state. They are measured and judged by the outdated reputation of the house they are in so they have a huge stake in keeping the rankings in their favor. The instate PNMs who care about these ranks and tiers don't need to come on here now, they already know from their high school and their clubs the top ranked houses for their region. They only come on here after the fact as actives and then alums to make sure their house stays in that position so that their letters carry the same weight in their region of the state forever and ever.
No one else needs to worry or care about tiers or ranks. All houses have swaps and date parties and formals. All houses have sisterhood events and beautiful huge houses (or will by the time PNMs are active). To the OOS PNMs who count being welcome into a sisterhood, then it is sisterhood and fit that matter the most, not ranks that are insignificant to you. Go into rush and trust the process. Work to present your best true self and you will find yourself in an amazing house. There are no bad houses, although there are some bad sisterhoods and bad fits. If you are worried about impressing Alabama moms and alums who are trying to stay relevant then pay attention to the ranks. If you choose a house for the wrong reasons, be prepared to be in the wrong house.

But, most OR houses are the least expensive to join. Why? They have very active and motivated LOCAL alumnae that put their $$$ into those mega mansions. Those houses get all new furniture every 2 years to keep them beautiful, inside and out. Why? Because their alumnae chapter looks over the houses every early spring and assess the needs for the following year. And, they pay for it because they want their daughters, nieces, grandchildren to have a beautiful house. OR gets quality OOS girls who fit their vibe and the OOS girl gets to enjoy her Alabama experience at a highly reduced rate. So, tell me again why most girls don’t want to go OR?
