are lower floors of tut only instate girls?

by: pnm18

I've decided to live in Tutwiler next year, but I've heard a rumor that the lower floors are usually instate girls that don't like it if a northern girl is on the lower floor with them. Is this true? I have the first day of room selection, but should I pick a mid-level floor to avoid conflict? (for clarity, neither my roommate nor I are from the south)

The lower floors are majority instate girls because they are the ones who’ve known they were going to Alabama since forever and have the earliest days to pick rooms.
I didn’t live there so I can’t personally speak to what it’s like to be OOS on the lower floors, but I have heard that as well.

I lived on the second floor of Tut my freshman year and I’m from far OOS. I highly recommend the second floor. So convenient. Be aware of the mold issues, though. A lot of girls get cold like symptoms, sore throats, and sinus infections all through winter because of the “Tut gunk”.

Honestly, the ones from OOS who come down here with a chip on their shoulders like that, looking to find "conflict" with in-state or Southern girls, are the ones who won't get along. Drop the attitude and try being friendly and gracious and you'll have a better experience, wherever you go.

First response is correct. It is just that in state usually commit early and have better time slot. Far OOS roomies on a low floor is fun and you should do it. Those in staters will look out for you and get you in the mix if you embrace the culture
