grades

So after looking at the grade report I guess alpha phi’s pledge class was less hot AND dumber? Their fall GPA was so low that they’d be ranked 33rd compared to fraternity GPAs (only beating AKL)....

Yeah I assumed their pledge class wasn’t as good looking this year in order to get the grade boost they desperately needed but yikes.... guess not

It's so sad. I really want them to get it together

DZ is about 100 members smaller than the next smallest house. Didn't realize they were struggling that much.

Damn I didn’t notice that when I looked at the report... that is NOT a good sign for them. I don’t know how they’ll turn that around anytime soon

But didn't they intentionally take a smaller pledge class and go for quality over quantity? That's what everyone said after recruitment!

That’s what I thought, and I didn’t think it was a terrible strategy at the time. But 100 smaller than the next smallest house is a SIGNIFICANT difference so I think they must have exaggerated that small PC being intentional.
Now they will have to take a huge COB class and probably a huge PC next year to make up for that difference, which puts them in a bad place. But maybe they are banking on being able to pull a way better PC with the new house so it will be ok to take a bigger PC?? We’ve all seen what a difference a new house made for gpb so maybe they are hoping for similar results

If I had to guess, they knew they’d have a tough rush this year (nothing against them, rushing out of a small house is really hard), and they decided to take the hit this year and hope they’d have a killer rush next year.
I heard they didn’t even have enough girls to rush people this year though, so if they don’t have enough girls it’s going to be hard for that strategy to pay off...

If they wanted to be picky over the girls they had, this was the year to do it. Once you go into a new build house, the fees go up. Getting quality over quantity is always the right move.

I assumed their small pledge class was due to lower than expected return rates and girls not showing up on bid day. I hope it’s deliberate but that’s not super common
