just sayin
by: GgAll these comments about “ I have a 4.3 gpa, good looks, involvement, and good conversationalist, etc... but no connections and I I was dropped by all old row” is complete bs PNMs don’t think the only thing you need is connections for old row. I promise you there was some other factor as to why those people didn’t make It past whatever round. If you can put yourself together, have recs, can carry an actual conversation, and have decent grades YOU WILL DO FINE. I’m or and is northern and know many people who didn’t have connections before rush and did fine.

This is true, but get your recs! Recs and connections are not the same thing. It is almost certain you will be dropped for not having recs but not having connections is not something you should worry about. You can't do anything about it anyway, but you do have total control on getting your recs.

I call bs on the OP. Have to have someone to kick down to keep the charade that you are top. It is an "I was chosen because I was obviously superior to you" line and it is BS. The reality of UA recruitment is there are so many quality PNMs that we need EVERY one of the houses and even then some amazing girls fall through the cracks and are released. We all know we are begging for new houses or smaller recruitment classes, this is NOT because PNMs are lacking. There are simply too many for us to keep. EVERY house has top quality PNMs and the silly lie of there must be something wrong if we didn't pick you is laughable. Every house could fill a pledge class, release them ALL and fill another with high quality girls they had let go (and do this over and over many times before running out of top girls). The only thing that would be missing from the newer groups would be not having the girls from your church, your mom's club, your cheer camp, your high school. This is where the connections come in. There is a perception that connections protect the house from bad reputations but it is not working and it often results in houses bringing in known OK girls over unknown stars. Then you have to come here or leverage those connections on campus to push down the other houses to make up for your lackluster sisterhood.
To think that the other houses are not filled with 4.3+ gpas and top tests and all boxes checked girls that your house let go is so ridiculous that this must be a freshman or a troll posting this. All of us who have been through the other side of recruitment KNOW that we have had to pass on many hundreds (thousands?) of quality girls who would make great sisters and would be indistinguishable from our actual pledge classes.
PNMs need to check it out.The numbers going through recruitment, gpas and test scores, the number of girls on deans list and then check social media. You will see beautiful happy girls in all the house, nothing lacking there. Check the organizations and look for the letters, lots of mid tier and gasp lower tier girls rocking it across campus, doesn't seem like they were lacking much. The pulled together, campus go-getters, with high gpas and superior test scores, who can ALSO hold conversations beyond the superficial, can work a room, have spotless reputations, are confident to break away from high school are the top Greeks. They are in EVERY house. They are IS and OOS. They thrive in ANY house, EVERY house, but if they came in without connections they were easy cut from a few OR houses. Make it through in a few of those houses and enjoy your extended probation while you try to prove yourself worthy to your sisterhood who only acknowledge their hometown friends, the exec board who only sits hometown friends, their social chairs who only associate with their hometown firends. Once you have been inside of this process you know all this to be true.

Good stuff. IMO if you want to learn about a house look at their exec. Shows you a good sample of their makeup and geographic and racial diversity.
