does a high gpa matter during rush?

I know that a low GPA has an effect, but does a really high gpa (above a 4.0) have any significance?

Less houses will drop you on grades alone.

Good grades will get you through the door. But, all houses would rather take a girl with a 3.4 that is super sweet and fun, has good involvement, and is put together well versus a girl who just has a great GPA but isn’t sociable or kind.
