by: ManhattanHi, I’m from Manhattan in New York City and hopefully will be attending Bama next year. I live in a relatively wealthy part of the city, how good will my chances be?

Being a rich girl from NYC is great. You still need to work hard at presenting your best self, but be true to yourself too. All the houses, old row and new row, have big city girls with money. The process will work for you just like others. Usually, NYC girls are drawn to houses like Zeta or Alpha Phi because those houses have a lot of girls from the Northeast urban centers. Phi Mu and AXO also have a lot of "city girls" but they tend to be from areas other than the northeast.

I was an upper east brat growing up! I love it at Bama now; all of my friends back home made fun of me because they didn't understand why I would go to a state school in the south when I could have gone to NYU or BC, but Bama is such a great traditional collegiate school and so much different than what I would have experienced if I stayed local. Personally my rush went really great. It was easy to get all my recs and tbh being a New Yorker that can never shut up helped me when having conversations during the week
