Recently I was tagged in a picture by one of my sisters and our sorority was also tagged, I happened to press on the other pictures our sorority had been tagged in and there are a few pics of PNMs posing outside of various sorority houses on Sorority Row with captions like “will I be in XYZ or ZYX? Tune in during Rush Week 2017” or posing outside of a house and saying “I loved XY! They’re my favorite house! Cant wait to be an XY #rushweek2018”. Girls, stop. It won’t help at all during rush and in my own opinion, it looks bad. Really bad. If any of y’all are reading this, delete those posts and try to have an unbiased rush week ffs.

I saw one on my sorority’s page that was captioned “Phi Mu has my heart” by a PNM and I cringed so hard.

I feel like the first one isn't too bad. A little dumb and misguided but not inappropriate. But saying one is your "favorite house" is awfullllll omg and could totally effect her rush

I saw one that said “leave the rest, I’ll rush the best” with the hashtags “I’m not a legacy” “go xyz” “need a fratty daddy” and “Rush Week 2018” and then this girl in front of a bunch of the houses throwing up their hand signs. It’s just not classy and it’s not fair to the houses and to the other girls.

You know recruitment chairs will be looking for these pics and making sure they down rank on the list. Chapters rank up class and down rank this kind of stuff.

A few of my friends have posted pictures like this and even I think it's tacky. Yes I did take a ton of pics on my tour and the only one I posted related to Greek life was a nice picture that
had a few houses and I think I tagged it #futurebamagirl #howlongtillrush?
Would actives think that's classless?

Chapters love to feel like the PNMs they're rushing want them, especially as the rounds go on. No one wants to waste a pref invite on a PNM who doesn't have any interest in their house. That being said, there's a HUGE difference between telling an active during a round "I feel really comfortable here, thank you for inviting me back, I've enjoyed every party I've attended at your house" vs. posting on social media that you'll only pledge one chapter because they're "the best" and the rest suck. Even if they did think you're great and really want you, they probably won't now, because everyone else will think they're really tacky. Do yourself a favor and express your appreciation and happiness with certain houses the right way.

Honestly my house will drop any PNM who has up pictures of herself in front of any sorority house, ESPECIALLY if she tags the sorority/location, unless it’s clearly with a friend or older sister in the house or something, depends on the caption for those two. It’s really presumptuous for a PNM to do that and can severely limit their options. It’s one of those “why would we waste our time” things.
