You need to stay in close touch with those contacts in the house and let them know you plan to go through recruitment. See how they react to this information but don't force yourself on them by saying stuff like "I am practically a xyz already." If you are somebody they think will be a fit in their house, they probably will react to you sharing the information by being very positive. If they don't really say anything, they may have reservations that you might not like it there or not be a fit.

Please don’t be discouraged by the negative comments on here. Go in with an open mind, but use the knowledge you’ve gained during your freshman year on campus to help you gain a feel of what houses you think you would feel most at home in. Each house is actually required to take a number of sophomores each year to make quota, so houses do make a note to pay attention to the sophomores coming through (when you go through recruitment, your nametag will be a slightly different color than the other members of your rho chi group to signify your upperclassmen status). Again, there is no guarantee that anyone will get a bid, but the recruitment process is not as rough as it’s made out to be for sophomores. A good GPA will always help you, and houses do consider GPAs differently for girls who have college credit, since college GPAs tend to be slightly lower than high school GPAs. Best of luck!
