What happened to Spring Tea?

Panhel decided it gave far OOS students a disadvantage. I didn’t think so but it got voted out in the end. Think the sororities just mostly didn’t like taking the time to do it

panhel really messed that one up. the spring teas were a great way for oos pnms to get on radars. now without them the only pnms that get on radars are hometown connected pnms, which is mostly south and mostly in-state.

The thing is, in recently lean economic years some pnms weren't able to afford the time and expense attend and may have felt if they missed it they were not as welcome during formal recruitment that fall. As mentioned above, the homes also had to put forth effort and time better spent elsewhere.

Nothing formal. Some houses encourage their members to take girls from their hometown to lunch or otherwise touch base with them informally during the Christmas break. Be alert to those opportunities.

Get in touch with your area panhellenic about this time of year and tell them you intend to go to Alabama and hint that you'd like all the help you can. In my large OOS Southern city the alums know that it will take a lot of work and they'll start looking at your resume and vetting you. I know in my sorority we depend on alums across the country to do investigating work. Depending on your area panhel, you may get invited to parties hosted by alums in the winter or spring break time periods.
