southern definition of "wealthy?"
by: curiousA lot of posts say that it helps a pnm's chances if she is wealthy. But, just based on statistics, Alabama is one of the least wealthiest states, and has the fifth worst economy out of the 50 states. So if I'm from a northern, upper-middle class family with a ~$100,000 income, does that qualify as southern "wealth?" Genuinely curious, not trying to bag on Bama or troll. It just always confuses me when a post says that a pnm isn't considered "top" because they aren't from certain wealthy areas of Alabama, but could potentially be from an area in a different state that probably has a better average income than AL.
#7by: Get over the term wealth
There are people here that have grown up with a lot of family money. There are people here that are on scholarship. Both are valued in Greek life. All that matters in most cases is can you afford the dues. That goes for even the old row sororities.

My parents are wealthy, as in the money my dad earns each year ... we don't go on nice vacations every chance we get because it does not work for who we are as people (we have a family of 6, so logistics don't always work out). Sure, he pays for my education and all the supplies I'd need, but I buy my own alcohol, go out with money I earned working throughout high school etc (basically they taught me to work hard for what I want.)
People who know me would never think my parents are THAT rich, because I don't flaunt it and it is not my money to brag about, it's my parents.
Money is not everything.
