does oos have any chance at axo or xo?
by: helpI'm northern OOS, and I deeply want to be in either of these houses. I really admire their qualities and philanthropy work, and I just think that I would be so happy and reach my full potential there. I have a great transcript and resume, but I just don't know if these houses are even slightly achievable without in-house connections and being OOS. Of course I'm open to other houses and trusting the recruitment process, but if there any hope of being in axo, xo, or even agd?

I was in a similar situation going through rush. I had connections in both houses, perfect grades and ACT scores, very involved and good looks (not being conceited but its an important factor). I got cut from both after the first round. I know plenty of girls that got in OOS though, so my best advice would be to keep an open mind! I'm happy where I am and you will be too

I am wondering what you think a sorority will do to help you reach your full potential? And wondering why only top houses can do this? All the houses are very similar from top to bottom. Probably need to be prepared to be dropped by some you want since OOS and embrace the idea that you might end up on NR.

Honestly if you have all the qualities snu you can keep a good convo you actually do have a chance! What I’ve seen is that alums are very involved and they look at every PNM’s social media... so make sure it is appropriate. Northern and Southern people tend to have a different idea of what is appropriate. Just imagine a 65 year old granny from Tuscaloosa looking at your stuff. Would she think it is cute? If you need a better idea of what is okay go on the sororities insta’s and of teen girls will be tagged. Stalk those girls so you can get a general idea of the aesthetic

There are lots of out of state girls in every house, so yes, there is a chance. But, you have to check all the boxes. You have to have great grades, a stunning resume, pretty, have great conversation skills, a very popular but conservative social media presence, great recs, etc. and not having in house connections might really hurt you. That all sounds so catty, there there are SO many girls going through rush that there has to be a way to decide who gets cut.
It is probably not likely, just because the actives in these house have their best friends coming through and there just isn't room for everybody. I would just make sure you have everything done and make sure you do everything on your end to prepare for rush, but I would definitely not go into rush hoping for any house in particular, because you never know what will happen and who you will even like during rush.
Good luck! :)
