by: RusherFormal rush did not go super well for me and I'm not sure exactly why. I am not terrible to look at and carry myself very well. I got dropped by my favorite houses and ended up suicide bidding one and got dropped from them. I am very tired of waiting around and being bored without having a sorority to be a part of. How should I get an open bid ASAP?

If you want to do COB sign up for the COB form on Panhellenic. Make friends with girls in the houses that typically COB. Let them know you're interested. If you don't like any of those houses just wait till fall. A lot of girls who drop and rerush have a good rush. Just make sure your grades are above a 3.5 and you're involved.
Houses who typically do COB: ZTA, alpha phi, dg, adp, dz, and theta.

Not a lot of girls who re-rush have a good rush. Some do get bids, but probably only to the houses mentioned above. And judging from your post, you kind of rejected those houses hoping for a "better" house. No house that cut you the first time will keep you because of "once cut, always cut." The house you dropped at pref won't keep you because they know you're not interested. You can make some good friends and hope they can work a miracle and bring you in. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

Lol you are so wrong. I know girls who have dropped and rerushed and ended up in Kappa, KD, Alpha Phi, AOP, DG, ADP... so yeaaaa

You will have the same rush you had last year.
You're the same person and appear to be only interested in a few houses.
Just because you want a particular house doesn't mean they want you.
It's one thing to wait to rush. It's another to rush and expect a much different experience

This is not necessarily true at all. You will know people and have a better idea of various houses. Many girls successfully redo recruitment. Good Luck!

I agree about the mean girls from greek chat. But I do want to be realistic. If you make super grades, make lots of friends, and have lots of activities you'll have a better recruitment. But if you sit around this year with nothing to show for it you won't. Your decision.

No, suiciding does not preclude one from accepting a COB bid. The MRABA form binds one to accept any bid offered and excludes any other bids for one year. Suiciding, or only listing one sorority on the MRABA form, does not exclude COB bids, but does exclude quota addition bids. Suiciding dramatically lowers chances to be Greek at all because your very best chance is as an incoming freshman. If your grades at Bama are stellar and you are active in some organizations that show your involvement and leadership, then you may have a chance next fall, otherwise you will be limited by spring COB to only houses where you know people, IF they are accepting new members. I would ask OP and @re-rush: was it worth suiciding to not be Greek at all now, or looking back would you have taken that bid from that house that you didn't list?
