You kids should be less concerned about ranking Greek tiers and VERY concerned that U of Alabama is the ONLY flagship university in the United States that is a Carnegie TIER TWO research university besides South Dakota, or some random school. That is VERY bad and the next time you guys have a shot at tier 1 is FIVE years away. Ole Miss is now tier 1.

All this has to do with federal funding. Because the UA med school is in Bham, that's why the campus is Tier 2. It doesn't diminish the campus academic quality at all, and to say otherwise is false.
