what happens at swaps?

I'm a pnm and I'm wondering what exactly happens at swaps? How long do they last? How are the different from date parties or pledge parties?

Boys and girls talk and stuff. Couple of hours. Different because no structure and informal without themes. Pledge parties are not sorority or frat events, they are just informal gatherings.
