Don't need more sororities, what we need is a minimum GPA to go through recruitment. I think if you're below a 3.0 you shouldn't be allowed to rush. That's an easy way to cut the amount of girls going through and go ahead and remove the pool of grade risks.
If a girl can't even get a 3.0 in high school, there's no way she can juggle college courses and sorority commitments.

Think of it as probability forecasting
considering a percentage will not complete
pledging, retention will decrease as the
classes near the fourth year, transfers,
etc. Basically, just enjoy your experience
and resist the temptation to think you are
an expert when you haven't even completed
ritual!

Why go through all of that when you could just raise the minimum GPA to 3.0 and fix it that way. Easy peasy.

Frankly, you're right. The "red zone" is ridiculous. We have to cut so many girls and the "recommended gpa" thing seems to never be taken seriously
