what to do
by: DZCan someone give me some solid advice? My distant third choice was DZ and that is the bid I received. I dropped this house twice and it kept coming back to me. I don't feel a connection with this house or the people I have met. Do I stay on and hope for the best or maybe just drop now? I will admit that part of my problem is that this house doesn't have a very good reputation. Please help!

For the last time PNMs....YOU DO NOT DROP HOUSES. HOUSES DROP YOU.
DZ kept showing up on your list because...wow they actually wanted you! And the other chapters didn't. And that is that.
You either accept your bid and make some friends (not "hope for the best", like this is the WORST thing that could've ever happened to you) or you drop and be a gdi.
Yeah you can try rushing a second time, but very rarely does that give anyone any different options. Sigma kappa is coming to colonize in 2018, but that is NOT a sure thing for anyone.
So you have a definite bid in your hands. Now it's your turn to figure out what to do with it. I'm not a gambling person so I'd go with what's in my hands right now.

Look, you got a bid from them, so you can't rush until next formal recruitment 2018. You might as well give it a go. If you can't find a group of girls to become friends with out of your huge pledge class, or out of the other members of the sorority, the problem is not the sorority, but you. If you still haven't made any friends right before initiation, then resign, get involved in other campus orgs( especially ones you are interested in that lots of sorority members join) , study hard to get a good GPA, keep YOUR reputation untarnished, and rerush in 2018.

You got a bid so make the commitment today that you're going to put 110% effort into getting involved and making friends in DZ. No "hoping for the best" - you're going to have to do the work.
Attend every DZ event you can - even the optional ones.
Make lunch dates, coffee dates, & study dates with your new pledge sisters. It's awkward because at this point they're basically strangers but just do it!!
Sit together in class.
Make plans to go out on the weekends.
If you are spending a least some time every singe day with DZs and still don't feel like you're on the path to making ANY solid friendships by initiation, then drop. But don't half ass it. My experience is that when new members who are unsure actually TRY they end up loving their new sisters and house.

DZ is a great house! They all are! You will certainly meet new friends! Make it a better house! You ARE a part of it! Go and enjoy! Chin up! And be proud of your accomplishment. To rush as a sophomore, you'll miss out on the other side of recruitment. Work week and recruitment did miracles for me! I now feel like I REALLY know my pledge class better than ever! Loving every minute of it! Hope the same for you!

If you've read posts from yesterday you'll see a lot of people think DZ showed improvement this year and some of the honest ranks even gave them credit for it. You ultimately get out of a sorority what you put into it! Now is a great time get involved and work to keep the uptrend for the next few years. New house will help!

I'm a DZ from another SEC school!! DZ is awesome!! You will grow to love it as long as you give it your all. I can't imagine my life without DZ. my very best friend I met through living in the house. You will find your tribe. You will have opportunities to be a leader. You have the ability to grow your chapter and make it "top tier." Which honestly, being top is more about your attitude and mindset. You made it through Recruitment at Bama! Now go have fun and enjoy the pink and green!! DZLAM!

I mean technically PNMs can drop houses. But only if they get asked back to enough houses to the point where they don't have to go back to their bottom houses.
