snap bids
by: PNMCould someone explain how snap bids work? Also which houses participate in it? I'm just curious because I've heard a few girls mention it

If a house exhausts their bid list and do not match to quota, they can have the option to extend a bid to a pnm that has been released from recruitment but maximized their options. (I think). They don't like it to come to that, but it happens and it is a way for some pnms to get a bid when they otherwise would not have.

No, not correct. If you SIP you are not getting a Snap Bid, nor are you going to be a quota addition.
Snap Bid: Houses issue Snap Bids if they are still under quota after bid matching. Only girls who were released from all houses before pref but who maximized their options, meaning they ranked every house and accepted every invitation before they were released, are even eligible for Snap Bids. Snap Bids at Alabama are extremely rare so no one should count on getting snapped.
Quota Addition: Girls who do not match with any house they preffed will be given a bid to one of those houses IF they signed their MRMBA and ranked all houses they preffed. Many times they are matched with their higher ranked choice after prefs but not always, depending on relative sizes of the chapters involved. A Quota Addition is a regular bid.
If you go all the way to pref and suicide and don't get that house then you are bidless and done.

It stands for "Single Intentional Preference" a.k.a. suiciding a.k.a. going to multiple pref parties and only listing one on your form at the end of the night. If you do that and you aren't high enough on the house's bid list, you will be dropped from recruitment because there is nowhere else for you to go.

According to the MOI, snap bids can be given to girls who were completely released or did not match after pref (usually SIP), and that happens before bid day, where the PNM will get a call from panhel, the VP-R of the chapter, their RC, or an advisor. Quota additions are only for girls who maximized their options, and only very few members of that sorority would know if a girl is a quota addition.
