in house

by: pnm

I really want to be able to live in my sorority house ASAP. I know some houses have sophomores moving in while others house mainly seniors. Which houses am I more likely to be able to move in as a sophomore or junior, and how do I ensure I'm able to do this? Thanks guys

First of all, I doubt there is much of a difference in terms of the makeup of girls living in the houses.

Secondly, DO NOT favor one house over the house because you heard it's easier to live there as a sophomore! That ability will not matter if the rumor isn't true or you actually do not vibe with your sisters.

Once you get a bid you can hear about the process to getting a spot in the house and work as hard as you can to get there. The only rule I can safely say applies to every house is that executive council members are required to live in-house unless they have special circumstances.

I have the same question and would like to know also, even f based on past few years only. That first response was a non answer. I assume new row since they have lower retention but idk.

It might seem like it would be easier in NR but considering how Pi Phi, AOPi, and DZ will all have new houses within a year (+I'm guessing Theta might start rebuilding your sophomore year) your chances might be harder. Upperclassman are more likely to want to live in-house if the house is newer.

APhi, GPhi, ADPi, DG decent shot.

AXO same as AGD
PM mostly Juniors and Seniors it looks like.
Others I can't tell.

I always assumed houses did sophomores + exec, because there are more girls to fill the house, and upperclassmen would be more interested in living in an apartment.

The problem is even if a house is only sophomores + exec there is only space for 30-40% of the sophomore pledge class, which often means half the girls that want to live in-house as sophomores don't get to. Most houses use some sort of point system combining GPA/involvement/etc to determine which girls get beds. PNMs should not assume that in certain houses you can just claim a bed and have it.

The better the chapter, the harder to get in the house. This shows that people are happy, strong sisterhood, active longer. Pretty obvious.
