im screwed

by: Fml

Sooooo 9 days before I leave for college I break my ankle bad. As in my Dr and even my parents want me to wait until NEXT YEAR for rush or try to do COB. I can't stop crying. I am going to need surgery but not for a few months. How well could it possibly go on crutches and pain pills in the heat!!! Would it be weird if my mom got a hotel and I stayed with her so she could help me get ready and generally make sure I am ok? It basically the only way she is going to let me do this.... Help.

That is horrible. Take all the help you can from your mom. NO ONE WILL JUDGE YOU. Get rest and keep off of it. Maybe in a week you can take advil or something? The heat is really rough. Call panhel NOW maybe they can set you up with a special schedule?

Contact Panhellenic/ your rho chi when you know her info. They can take you to all your parties in a golf cart so you aren't dying crunching around. It would also make total sense to have your mom help you!! If you have a good attitude about it it could honestly be a great conversation starter in houses hahaha
Good luck!! I really hope you'll be able to rush!

You will not be the only one on crutches. I suggest you get a wheelchair for that week, Panhellenic will definitely make concessions for your schedule. Hope you go through with rush, i'm sure you'll have a successful week good luck.

You will almost feel better (probs not perfect) in the next few days. Hopefully, you can wear a boot. it will make girls remember you so look at that as a positive. I would give it a shot and I would also take advantage of mom helping. Don't' have her hang in the tent or anything but at least drop you off near meeting places. Also, I think calling Panhellenic and seeing if they can help is a good idea. All they can do is say no.

Come on if you break a bone bad enough to need surgery on your ankle it isnt going to feel almost better in a week!! Depends on this girls tolerance for pain if she will need strong pill.
Op feel better! Hopefully you at least have a story to laugh about soon.

As someone who has broken a bone and had surgery, it will feel significantly better in the next few days after they set it and have the weight re-distributed correctly. My doctor would only give strong pain pills for 5-7 days because he said ibuprofen should be fine after a week or so. People don't generally stop working, going to school or just generally living their lives while waiting for a break to heal enough for surgery. IF she feels up to it, she should give it a shot.

I saw girls with boots and on crutches when I rushed its no big deal! it'll be a great conversation piece tho... but if you let them know they will make accomidations, I even saw a girl being driven in a golf cart across the row one time bc she had the next party and a boot on her foot. def dont wait till next year trust me.

Yeah if you're not interested in using a wheelchair Panhellenic will at least be able take you in a golf cart. There are always a few who are in casts/boots, I think a girl on my sorority's exec was in the same spot as you actually

I understand your mom is going to be helping you for the week, but there is no reason that she is the one calling Panhellenic for you. You're about to be in college. You need to learn how to do things alone, such as making important phone calls.

But by all means, you should definitely utilize her help for mobility reasons throughout the week. I'm just saying it reflects badly on you when you have your mommy call panhel.

OP said that her parents and doctor were all against her rushing. Mom had a lot of questions and concerns and issues, while OP was ready to go ahead herself. It makes sense that the only way they were going to change their minds is for mom to talk to panhellenic herself. Glad for her that everybody's on board now.

my sophomore year for the first party, we had a girl come in with a boot on because she broke her ankle. Panhel let us know beforehand so we could make sure she had a seat in a chair (we didn't want her standing the whole time but also had limited chairs) and made sure she was near the door so she didn't have to walk far. She ended up being the rush crush of the first girl who talked to her that day (it was our first party of the day for the first round) and she is now our VP-CS. no one will judge you, trust me!
